Hi! I’m Andrea.
Over the duration of my six-month Graphic Design Fellowship with Airbnb in San Francisco, I stayed in six different homes in six different neighborhoods, met six different hosts, had six unique guest experiences, and many, many, many moments I loved. The following is a collection of some of those moments.
a homey, always-warm place surrounded by burritos and cardamom-laden desserts, combined with my two kind, music-loving, and mellow hosts
being warmly welcomed into a home with soft, fuzzy slippers
having a long heart-to-heart on a freezing rooftop while enjoying the night skyline
going to Anthony’s Cookies eleven times in a single month
sipping a Blue Steel cocktail that looks like Powerade and tastes like candy
trying a bone marrow spread on toast for the first time at St. Vincent’s
a calm, clean, and eternally tranquil area right next to the park, shared with a young artist and nail salon expert
walking through an adorable blue door on a quiet street every day
having a bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine waiting for me upon my arrival
relaxing in a room of white—walls, sheets, and curtains with floods of sunlight
getting hooked on salted caramel cones from Bi-Rite Creamery
being presented with this fabulous apartment key
a tastefully designed modern loft owned by two tasteful, modern designers in a central, super-convenient, bustling area
being greeted by the most welcoming doormat
admiring my host’s many bicycles decorating the entrance hallway
enjoying the hand-inked lettering decor in the bathroom
having the stress of suitcase storage troubles quelled immediately by my accommodating host
perusing shelves bursting with art and design books
a sparkling-clean, Zen-like, and hyper-colorful home (and hostess) nestled in a spacious and refreshingly quiet area
hearing this bell jingle every time the front door opens
seeing these colorful little statues in different nooks around the house
sitting in the intensely orange, warm, and sunny living room
snacking on butterscotch pudding with salted caramel from The Corner Store
being guided up the stairway by decorative lanterns
a good hike up two hills and three stairwells to the home of a selfless, humble host who epitomizes hospitality
having three adorable dogs to come home to
staring at the fish staring at each other
being served delicious and wholesome weekend breakfasts unexpectedly
enjoying the amazing view of the stars at night from atop a hill
having a host that is also a dedicated smoothie-maker
a rich, cultural environment fueled by super hosts and multiple other guests in a full, vibrant house
appreciating the always-available fresh, filtered water
taking advantage of being only a block away from Dolores Park
indulging in Tartine Bakery’s amazing tres leches cake
being invited to draw on the walls of the bathroom with chalk
enjoying the company of the other diverse guests
